Right and Wrong
Prevent activities legal in one district from being criminal in another.
There is currently a strange situation in this country that should be addressed, not with narrow, but with broad brush strokes. This is the fact that people can do exactly the same thing in one State, County, City, or special district and that activity can be perfectly legal. Doing it elsewhere is not only frowned upon, regulated, or illegal, but actually criminal. How is this possible and why is nothing done about it?
It all goes back to the fact that the laws on the books were written by people. Unusually, these laws, while on the face being representative of the people's wishes, are actually a combination of archaic rules and modern ideas of progress that were written and put into law by a vast array of different people for different reasons. Some rules were from Common Law, and were brought to this country from England when America was still several colonies in the New World. Later laws were enacted by people in fits of holy zeal...or unholy wrath. Later, companies “Self-Regulated”, by making laws that were in their best interest while making it more difficult for competitors to succeed. Now, most laws are not even written, and often not even read, by our “Representatives” because others write laws for them.
The current number of laws cannot be read by one person during their lifetime, because they are changing and being added to at such a rate that there is no catching up. Current lawyers have to specialize, or concentrate on only a tiny fraction of the laws, because they cannot keep up with all the various laws that can be relevant to cases in general.
Maybe laws were enacted in clearly written form at some point, but lawyers being lawyers even when our Constitution was written, slipped in the requirement that Common Law be recognized by our legal system and this entailed the keeping up not only with legislated law, but also with Legal Precedent. While the Constitution was intended to have Division of Powers that split the system into an Executive Branch, a Judiciary Branch, and a Legislative Branch; legislation has not only been usurped by various lobbying groups, but by both the Executive and Judicial Branches. How? One writes laws via the various Bureaucracies (e.g. the DEA, FDA, BLM, etc.) and through Executive Orders, while the other does so through Legal Precedence and Legislating From the Bench. This is not only illegal, but one illegal act, makes Law Abiding Citizens into Criminals with the jot of the pen.
Let's look at some of the areas where we currently have laws that differ between different Districts. It is here, that we should be able to see that our various government's laws don't determine what is right and what is wrong.
While these may seem like a large number of topics, they are merely the tip of the iceberg. Right and Wrong are not determined by the Majority, nor by our Legislators, and especially not by those that have usurped the powers of legislation. It is our right, or rather our responsibility, as citizens, to do what is in our power to make this country better. Step one is to get informed. Obviously, don't trust what is written here, but go out there and research to find out if it is true. Step two will be the hard part.
